TOPIC: UPROOTING THE SEED OF HATRED

TEXT: Heb 12:15, 1 John 4:20, 1 John 2:9-11

Somebody says, hatred means, you drinking a poison and waiting for another person to die. God will not judge you because somebody offends you, but God will Judge you by the action you took when men or people offend you. There are some people who hate someone without a reason. If ask why do you hate him, you hear them say; no reason but I hate him.

In 1John 4:20 the bible says if a man says love God and hated his brother, he is a liar. For he that loveth not his brother whom he sees, how can he love God whom he had not seen? So loving your brother is the only prove that you love God. This is God command that you love one another as Christ love us. In 1 john 2:9-11 He said anyone that hates his brother is a child of darkness and not of light. He dwells in darkness because the darkness has blind his eyes. He does not see good things in people anymore, no matter how they tried to please him, he sees nothing but evil. 1 john3:15 said he that hated his brother is a murder (i.e. a killer) and a killer has no part in God kingdom. A killer is an enemy to God. So killing is not only through gun or knife but also when you hated your brother or sister in the household of faith, you have killed.

WHAT CAUSES HATRED? On e of the things that causes hatred is

1.       Nursing grudges over past offences. In Gen 27:41 Esau said because my brother have taken my birthright, the day my father died I will kill my brother Jacob, whe he had nurse a grudges against him, what is that grudges in your heart; remove it else it will destroy you.

2.       When we allow the spirit of jealousy to possess our heart, Gen 37:14 the bible said because of hatred Joseph brothers conspired to kill him because of jealousy. That their father loves Joseph more than them.

3.       Over ambitious: you want to take another person position, you want to win people to yourself, so that everybody will know you can do better, you want to be a champion. So over ambition can cause hatred. Hear me! if you look on what man will do for you, you will fall. But if you wait on God, He will make you to be what he want you to be.

THE EFFECT OF HATRED

1.       It kills you spiritually – your spiritual life will go down, you cannot serve God well again.

2.       It takes away the grace of God in your life and once the grace of God is reumove from man. He is expose to many attack of the devil.
