Gen 18:19, Gen 12:1-3, 1 Sam 2:12-17, Verse 22-36,
1Sam 4:1-11
Introducing
this lesson I will like to say that we can’t understand the need for God’s
glory in the family without first knowing what is the Glory of God. Therefore
the glory of God is the manifest beauty of his holiness, in other word; His
holiness is what He is as God. That nobody else is. His quality of perfection
can’t be improve upon and can’t be limited, and is incomparable. So when Isaiah
6:3 says that angels are crying Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty. And the
next thing they say is the whole earth is full of his glory.
So
the glory of God is the Holiness of God made manifest in family. In other
words, if there is holiness in the family it means the Glory of God is there.
Our lesson said, the glory of God appeared to our father Abraham and promise
that through him all the families of the earth shall be blessed. And that
through him there will be a transfer of generational blessing to his
generation.
I
have come to pray for eight people whose Amen heaven can hear; through you,
your family will be blessed, you will pass on generational blessing to your
linage in the name of Jesus. In Gen 25:5 the Bible said, And Abraham gave all
that he had unto Isaac that shows transfer of family blessing. It is only man
that is blessed that can transfer blessing.
Our
lesson said Abraham’s family carries generational blessing, that means Abraham
have had an encounter and had fulfill the requirement for the blessing before
he merit it. One of the requirements that Abraham met to qualify Abraham to be
a blessed family is his conversion.
1. Abraham
conversion: Abraham was born around 2166 BC, much is not known about his early
life, but all we know is that he had a connection with godly men like
Melehizedech who must have led him to God (Read Gen 14:18-23)etc. so the best
legacy parents could handover to their children is righteousness, fear of God
and riches. In proverb 19:14 the bible says house and riches are the
inheritance of father. Abraham after raising Isaac under the righteousness and
fear of God, handover blessing to Isaac. Gen 25:5. So a godly foundation is
imperative, important, and essential to generational blessing.
There
are blessing, your family may not get until there is salvation in that family.
So salvation is the master key that unlock generational blessing on family ( so
bring your family to the saving grace). The second requirement that made
Abraham the father of blessing is:
2. Is
his commission: Gen 12:2, Acts 7:3 now God told Abraham if you obey me, to obey
God is by accepting the lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ into your life and
live by it. Then He will make you a blessed family. Go call Abraham and commission
him. And his commission was sevenfold;
(1)I
will make of thee a great nation. (2) I will bless thee. (3) I will make thy
name great. (4) Thou shall be a blessing (5) I will bless them that bless thee
(6) I will curse him that curse thee (7) in thee shall all families of the
earth be blessed – Gen 12:1-3.
God
told Abraham to leave his father’s house because there must be a leaving before
elevation – Act 7:3-5.
3. Abraham’s
Courage: Gen 14:1-6. Abraham fought the first war in the Bible. He fought war
against the enemy of lot with his 318 men. He had courage and sympathy for his
family members. Courage is the Key to victory.
4. Abraham
Communion and Commitment: Gen 14:17-24. Abraham’s family recognized the priest,
how often does your family recognize the priest? Abraham paid tithe of the
sporl, he got the priestly blessing Number 6:23-27.
5. Abraham’s
Covenant: Gen 15:1-21. He had a covenant relationship with God, he extended the
same to his family, Isaac and Jacob (if you give your life to God you are in a
covenant work) have you led your children to Christ?
6. Abraham’s
righteousness: Heb 11:8-10. He believed God and lived righteous and his
obedience to God gained him God’s Acceptance and friendship. Are you a
righteous man in your office and at home?
7. Abraham’s
Compromise: Gen 16:1-15. And that singular act threw the covenant work into
sorrow and trouble. Remember your costly mistake can endanger or put your
family into a terrible condition, be warn.
The
impediment to the glory in Eli’s family (1 Sam 2:12-17, 22-36, 4:1-11). Gods
glory departed from Eli’s family because Eli condoned indiscipline children.
Eli lost the glory of God and the priesthood due to his nonchalance and
complacency toward his house. Fathers were meant to give direction to their
household, Eli failed in his responsibility. According to the Bible Eli’s
family was to enjoy priesthood from generation to generation. He lost it
because of his children. Eli’s children were unsaved – 1Sam 2:12. The son’s of
Eli stole the offering from God, 1Sam 2:14. They bullied the people of God –
1Sam 2:14. His sons committed adultery right in the tabernacle (Church) 1sam
2:22 they caused God’s people to transgress 1Sam 2:17-24, Eli was too weak to
correct his Sons.
GOD’S
REACTION TO ELI AND SONS
1. God
warns them through unknown priest 1Sam 2:34.
2. God
warns them through the boy Samuel. 1 Sam 3:1-18
PRAYER
1. Oh
Lord! Every sin that we commit as a family that has caused your glory to depart
from my family, Oh God forgive us.
2. O
Lord, restore Your Glory in my family.
3. Oh
Lord! We receive fresh grace to obey you as a family.
4. Father
restore our family blessing.
