DESTROYING THE POWER OF DISAPPOINTMENT

TEXT: LUKE 24:21
Disappointment means non realization of hope. In other words disappointment is not being able to achieve your goals in life and everyone of you reading this have been disappointed at one time or the other in life. Disappointment is another pathway to success.

People feel disappointed when their expectations are not met. But after today your expectation shall be met in the mighty name of Jesus. God is going to convert your disappointment to appointment tonight in the mighty name of Jesus. In Luke 24 we saw the two disciples of Jesus on their way to Emmaus disappointed and they said “we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel. We had hoped that he will be our liberator and savior. We have hoped that he would save us from the hands of our enemies. We had hoped that he will give us financial security.
We had hope that he would bring us the better life, we had hope that he would give us better marriages, we had hoped for a great transformation at his coming, and we had hoped he would sponsor our children to school. But all our hopes were not realized; rather they were dashed and shattered. We hoped in vain, we are disappointed for he lived only two and half years and our leaders killed him. Oh! We did not enjoy the benefit of his life. How can God be so unjust? Why did God allow this to happen to us? If we had known, we would not have put our hope in him. We would not have followed him. The two disciple felt so disappointed in Jesus that they returned back to what I believe is their village Emmaus. What are we still doing here in Jerusalem? They said, we came because of Jesus. He is no longer here, we better go home.
Hear me! Disappointment cannot be hidden. They carried it in their faces, as they were walking along they were looking downcast and sad. They were depressed and sorrowful. For them their worlds have collapsed. For them nothing good can happen again. They left the community. That is how some people respond to disappointment. They walk away from the group. They isolated themselves, when you isolate yourself from others at a time of disappointment, your sorrows will increase and your tears will multiply.

They could not see God at work in all that had happen, they saw things only from their own narrow perspective. People who feel disappointed often only see things from their own narrow perspective.
To be continued.......
