DONT LET YOUR HATERS GET YOU DOWN

WITH Rev. Paul Essien
Text : 1 Samuel 18: 6 – 9
Hear me, people who don’t like you, will always find a way to dislike you. No matter what the reason may be in life, there are people who don’t just like you; It is not because you have done them anything bad; it’s just that they just don’t like you.

Who is a hater?
A hater is a person who simply cannot be happy with another person’s success.
In John 13: 34- 35 Jesus said, “a new command I give you, (Love one another as I have loved you)”.
Ladies and gentle men,
I cannot understand how people with Jesus in their heart can be so hateful and hurtful towards one another.
I have seen Christian hurt, criticize, gossip and judge each other, even while sitting in the same church, we gossip one another; or standing behind the same pulpit, we criticize one another, we hate each other for no reason, in the very presence of God.
In our text let’s join the celebration of David’s victory, as he defeats the philistine giant (Goliath).
God used David to defeat the philistine, so if you were an Israelite regardless of your position, you would celebrate the victory. But on Saul’s return from the battle, the women sang a song which says “Saul slain in thousand but David in ten thousand.
This song made Saul to look on David with an evil eye; in other word Saul started hating David.
So don’t let your haters get you down.
Hear me, haters will keep their eyes on you; your haters will mourn for you when you are succeeding in business, they will keep their eyes on you when your marriage is doing well, they will keep your eyes on you when you are increasing financially, they will keep their eyes on you when you are doing well In your job and when you are not doing well.
Haters love to attack you
King Saul developed hatred for David, even though David loved him as a father. Saul grew jealousy for David and also started attacking him, he hated him for no just cause; he hated him because of the songs of praise women sang.
The Bible in John 3:15, anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer
Saul out of hatred for David wanted to pin him to the wall; just like people through their spear wants to pin you down in life.
Gossip, rumors, backbiting, criticism are all emotional spears that some people love to throw at us .
Have you ever thrown spear on someone?

Let us pray
Oh Lord set me free from hatred and jealousy spirit in the name of Jesus. Amen
