THE PERSONALITY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Text: John 14:16-17, John 14:26, John 16:7-8, John 16:13-15

The word personality of the Holy spirit means the combination that form an individual distinctive character and these distinctive character are;

1.  Knowledge

2.  Feeling or emotion

3.  Wills

Any entity that can think, feels and wills is a person. So the Holy spirit is the third person of the trinity. He is equal in power, might, majesty and glory. He is God, He works jointly with God to the father and Jesus Christ the Son during creation.

So He is a person, hence the Holy spirit is always written as a proper noun “He”. He is the teacher that makes Jesus God known-John 14:26.

Lets see the work of the Holy Spirit that manifest His personality.

i.            The Holy spirit speaks-Acts 8:28 he said the n the spirit said unto Philip “go near and join thyself to his chariot. This was God through the Holy Spirit sending Philip to witness to Ethiopian eunuch.

He spoke to peter in Acts 10:19-20 the Holy spirit speaks to Simon and Barnabas during fasting and prayer in Acts 13:1-4 to spate Barnabas and Saul for the work of the ministry. These reveal the personality of the Holy Spirit that is a person and not influence or a force that some people believes Him to be.

ii.          The second thing that manifest the personality of the Holy spirit is that ; Jesus said the Comforter which is the Holy Spirit, He shall Teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance.

iii.        The third thing that manifest the personality of the Holy Spirit is; the Holy spirit bears witness John 15:26-27 He said He shall testify of me  that is talk about me and me and bear witness of me, in other word it is the person that know you very well can bear witness of you. Why? Because he know you so the Holy spirit had been with Jesus and know Him very well that is why He tell us all about Jesus

iv.         The Holy Spirit guides Hears and speaks, tells John 16:12-13

v.           The Holy Spirit forbids – Acts 16:6-7; He prevented Paul and his companions from going into certain areas of Asia.

vi.         The Holy Spirit intercedes Roman 8:26, Roman 8:34

All these work of the Holy Spirit manifest His personality. Let’s see more prove that the Holy Spirit is a person.

There are some personal character that the Holy Spirit posses that reveal his personality

1.  The Holy Spirit has a mind. Roman 8:27

2.  The Holy Spirit has Knowledge – 1cor 2:11

3.  He possesses Affection – Rom 15:30

4.  He has a  will – 1 Cor 12:11

The Holy Spirit suffers personal slight injuries showing that He is a person. Which are;

1.  He can be grieved – Eph 4:30

2.  He can be insulted- Heb 10:29, Heb 10:26

3.  He can be lied to- Acts5:3

4.  He can be resisted-Acts 5:51-53

5.  He can be blasphemed{that is to b making evil of} Matthew  12:31-32.

All these reveal that the Holy Spirit a person  and not a thing influence or force.

PRAYER

1.  Father help me to have a personal encounter with the person of the Holy Spirit

2.   Oh! Lord let the Holy Spirit speak to me one on one this week.

3.  Oh! Lord help me to have a lasting experience with the Holy Spirit  this week

4.  Father may I be flooded with the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life this week

5.  Oh Lord empower me by your Spirit .
